Review: The Mandalorian Season 2

Season two of the popular Disney+ series The Mandalorian has been finished with their second season. After watching, all I had to say was that they’ve done it again.

(WARNING: The following content contains spoilers for those who are not caught up.)

The first season ended with Din Djarin a.k.a. Mando having a new mission with ‘The Child.’ He sets out to find other members of the Jedi in order to help the child master his powers. Also, Moff Gideon obtains the Darksaber, which can lead to more trouble for Din.

Here in the second season I witnessed some alluring moments and qualities that made the show watchable. First thing was ‘The Child’ or Grogu.

Grogu has become a fan favorite since the beginning and not just because of his cuteness. He may have eaten other people’s food (and offspring), but I also got to learn more about his past. Plus, his bond with Mando was interesting.

The next thing was the surprise appearances of iconic Star Wars characters. In episode five, Ahsoka Tano from The Clone Wars. Seeing the live version of this Jedi was entertaining to see in action. Although she couldn’t fully train Grogu, she did help Din learn more about him. In addition, her duel with Elsbeth was engaging.

Then there was the unexpected appearance of Luke Skywalker himself. A de-aged Mark Hamill came to the rescue in the season finale by defeating the Dark Troopers with ease. He and R2-D2 came and took Grogu with them in order to complete his training. That big surprise was one to remember.

Din Djarin’s journey was particularly interesting. When the show first premiered, he was portrayed as a strong silent type person. But when Grogu came into the picture, I got to see him grow. In this season he was more of a father figure to Grogu and he was kind and compassionate. It was easier to tell since his helmet was off more. Watching the character’s development was another reason why it was watchable.

The characters, the battles and Grogu all made the series what it is. Basically, season two of The Mandalorian is something that you don’t want to miss out on.
