Andrew Garfield will reportedly put his spidey-suit back on because he will be in Spider-Man 3. That’s right, the star of The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be part of the upcoming MCU movie.
(WARNING: The following content contains spoilers for those who are not caught up in the MCU.)
In this upcoming MCU film, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has gotten himself into quite a pickle. In the mid-credit scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter Parker’s identity has been revealed to the world by J. Jonah Jameson. Now, Peter has to deal with this mess and he also has to face the multi-verse.
Many special characters will be a part of this MCU movie. First there is Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). According to Collider, he will be serving as Peter’s mentor throughout this film. In addition to Cumberbatch, we also have Jamie Foxx coming back as Electro. Also as of today, Alfred Molina will be back as Doctor Octopus.
Fans of Spider-Man remember Molina as Doctor Octopus, the main antagonist in Spider-Man 2 by Sam Raimi. He was a formidable foe for the web-slinger and now we’ll see if Holland’s Spider-Man can take him. Speaking of the Sam Raimi movie, Tobey Maguire is in talks to reprise his role. Having all three Spider-Men would be like Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse, which wouldn’t be the worst thing.
No decisions have been made about Maguire’s return, but Kristin Dunst is returning as Mary Jane Watson or M.J. Fans know M.J. as Peter’s main love interest in the Raimi trilogy, but what part will she play in this movie? Only time will tell.
It’s unclear how much we’ll get to see Garfield in the movie. No telling how much screen time there will be for him or how big of an impact it may have on Holland’s Peter Parker. But, one thing that fans can count on is that it will make the movie more entertaining.
While both Holland and Garfield played Spider-Man, both have different lives. Garfield’s Spider-Man was more brooding and less talkative. Holland’s was more energetic, eager and passionate. It will interesting to see them interact with each other.
As I stated before, we’re looking at another Spiderverse scenario minus the excellent animation. With Andrew Garfield added to Spider-Man 3, the odds are in out favor.
