Arrowverse producer Greg Berlanti is working on another superhero project for the DC Comics universe. The Green Lantern is officially becoming a TV show on HBO Max.
Berlanti is known for his work in numerous TV shows involving the DC Comics universe. He produced and wrote for shows such as The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and Titans. In addition, he was the producer for Green Lantern the movie which starred Ryan Reynolds. Despite the negative reception of the movie, he still plans to make another Green Lantern project.
According to Deadline, it will feature four people who would be heroes of the Green Lantern Corps. The four Lanterns are Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz and Alan Scott. Some classic characters will be included in the series like Sinestro and Kilowog.
Obviously the story will follow the emerald warrior. But, Berlanti revealed that he will also tell the origin story of Sinestro. The Green Lantern and Sinestro are arch-enemies, so having an origin story of the villain would increase the hype between the two men.
The show’s first season will consist of 10 episodes and Berlanti will have help with this show. Marc Guggenheim will also be involved with the writing of the series. Guggenheim is also a producer in the Arrowverse, where he co-created Arrow and produced Legends of Tomorrow.
Other details about the series have yet to be revealed. However, when all of the cast comes together the Green Lantern series will start filming in 2021.
