After Avengers: Endgame came to a close, Chris Evans and Robert Downy Jr. have left the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Many fans start to assume that more superheroes are leaving the franchise. However, Chris Hemsworth said that he is staying as Thor.
The Australian God of Thunder is set to star in the upcoming movie Thor: Love and Thunder. Alongside Hemsworth is Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, who is taking the mantle of Thor and wielding his famous hammer Mjolnir. Although there have been delays to production due to the pandemic, the film continues to shoot.
During an interview with the Polish magazine Elle Man, Hemsworth stated that he wishes to keep being Thor after Love and Thunder. He said:
“Are you crazy ?! I’m not going into retirement. Thor is far too young for that. He’s only 1500 years old! This is definitely not the film where I say goodbye to this brand. At least I hope so.“
When Thor comes back in phase four of the MCU I started to ask myself one question: Will fat Thor come back? When we last left Thor in Endgame, he was taking off with the Guardians of the Galaxy and he was still in his chunky state. Love and Thunder will either do a time jump so that Thor will be back to his fit shape or he’ll continue to be fat Thor.
Whichever way this upcoming movie plays out, people will still get to see more of Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder. Once Thor: Love and Thunder is out, Thor will still be around in phase four of the MCU.
