Top Five: Disney+ Animated Shows

During this COVID-19 pandemic, people have time to catch up on their favorite shows and binge-watch anything that seems interesting on Netflix, Hulu or Disney+.

In this case people can rewatch animated TV shows from their childhood. It gives people a nostalgic feeling and it can connect with a person’s inner child. Disney+ has plenty of series that can give people that feeling.

Here are my top five choices for a TV series that is currently available on Disney+.

5. Doug (1996-1998)

This 90’s classic is about a young boy named Doug Funny who records his days in his journal. Doug goes through his life in “Bluffington” and uses his imagination to deal with the challenges of family, friends and growing up. Doug gets me laughing with his wild imaginations and dreams. Plus, the wacky characters like Skeeter can always lift someone’s spirit.

4. Kim Possible (2002-2007)

This Disney series follows the adventure of Kim Possible, a high school cheerleader who frequently saves the world from evil. Following along on her missions is her best friend Ron Stoppable, her tech guy Wade and Ron’s pet naked mole rat Rufus. Kim Possible delivers both action and comedy to the viewers. Despite saving the world and high school drama, the characters make it humorous in almost every situation. That makes this show watchable.

3. Phineas and Ferb (2008-2012)

Here we have two brothers who try to make every day of summer memorable. They create elaborate and fun inventions for themselves and their friends and their sister Candace tries to “bust” them. Meanwhile. their pet platypus Perry works as a secret agent in order to protect the tri-state area. Despite the predictable played out episodes, the show still provides plenty of humor for the characters and the predicaments they get into. Basically, it’s enjoyable.

2. X-Men: Evolution (2000-2003)

In this Marvel series we have the X-Men in their teen years (most of them anyway). They try to live their lives in the real world despite their mutant powers. Professor Xavier and his students try to fit into the world and help as many people as they can. What I enjoy about this show is the adventure that the mutants go on. This series provides action, drama and a dash of humor. Triple threat!

1. Fish Hooks (2011-2014)

Finally at number one there is Fish Hooks. This follows the story of Milo, Bea and Oscar, a group of fish who live in a pet store and go on random and exciting adventures around the fish tanks (sometimes even outside the tanks). I enjoy the randomness from this show. Just when you get the idea of a character, they show you a random thing that was unexpected, which is one of the reasons why it’s humorous. The banter, the adventures and the craziness from Milo is what gets me laughing every time.

So this is my top five choices for an animated series on Disney+. What’s yours?
