The Good Place comes back to NBC for its final season!

Holy fork, The Good Place finally returns to NBC for its fourth and final season. The premier episode “A Girl From Arizona” shows promise for the comedy series.

When we last left off in the season three finale, Michael (Ted Danson) and Janet (D’Arcy Carden) have created a new ‘Good Place’ in order to prove that humans can improve their behavior and their lives. Eleanor (Kristen Bell) becomes the new architect after Michael experienced a nervous breakdown.

Afterwards, Chidi (William Jackson Harper) had to deal with his ex-girlfriend being part of the experiment. In order to keep the experiment going, he ordered Michael to erase his memory. Now Eleanor has to interact with the love of her life with no memory of them being together.

Aside from Eleanor dealing with her struggle, Jason (Manny Jacinto) has some trouble in paradise too. Derek (Jason Mantzoukas) is trying to get Janet back and Jason is preventing that from happening.

The first episode of the new season is off to a promising start. There were a few alluring qualities in this episode and one of them is Kristen Bell.

Not only was Bell’s performance humorous, but I could sense the drama she displayed as well. Eleanor had to deal with being the architect and running everything that goes on in the experiment. When I saw her struggle to keep things in order, I was impressed.

More humor came when Derek came back to the ‘Good Place.’ Mantzoukas’ portrayal of Janet’s former flame continues to make me laugh. His running gag of putting his name in almost all of his sentences gets me chuckling every time.

Lastly, there was the plot of the episode. The gang tries to get their experiment to work and they struggle with their subjects. Trying to get people to improve their lives in order to get into the ‘Good Place’ was both original and entertaining.

There are several questions that need answering after this episode such as, when will the experiment start to work? Will Eleanor become a great architect? Will Eleanor and Chidi find each other again? Only time will tell.

All in all, the fourth and final season of The Good Place is starting off strong. If your looking for a good laugh, this show is the ideal choice.
