Now that summer has officially arrived, new music is now on the horizon. The first release was the collaboration of Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello with “Señorita.”
The Canadian singer and the former Fifth Harmony member have worked together to create their new song and video. With help from the video director Dave Meyers, the duo were able to make a steamy new video for their fans.
In this video Cabello plays a waitress at a diner and Mendes is a mysterious-motorcycle rider. The pair meet and start to fall for each other. Despite their feelings for one another, their love wasn’t meant to be.
I could feel the chemistry between the two singers. “I wish I could pretend I didn’t need you, but every touch is ooh la, la, la,” the duo sang. When I heard the two singers during this chorus I was captivated.
Although the finished video pleased their fans (including me) there were a few hiccups that went along the way. One key example was when Mendes accidentally dropped Cabello during their dance rehearsal.
As they were preparing for their dance floor scene, Mendes didn’t grab Cabello’s hand while he was pulling her towards him. That caused her to fall, according to People.com. Cabello immediately started laughing when she hit the ground. After learning from that mistake, they got their choreography down and became successful.
Mendes and Cabello had worked together in the past. In 2015 they recorded the song “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and rumors have been spreading about those two dating. Although they played star-crossed lovers in their new music video, they both confirmed that they are just friends.
For those who are looking for new music to listen to kick off your summer, “Señorita” is the ideal choice.
