Marvel has been with us for so long and the heroes that were created have given us plenty of joy. We have enjoyed them in the comic books and television shows, but they’re especially engaging in the movies.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been working since 2007 and they have brought out much success. With these superhero films I can always identify what they put in every single one of them: humorous moments, mid-credit scenes and a cameo appearance of the Marvel creator himself, Stan Lee. Here are my top five Marvel movies that I would want to rewatch.
5. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014):
Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans) adjusts to his new life in the present time after being frozen in suspended animation from the events in Captain America: The First Avenger. Cap had to go up against S.T.R.I.K.E., the counter-terrorsim team of S.H.I.E.L.D. Not only that, he had to fight against his best friend from the past, Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan).
This movie caught my eye because I got to see Cap in a new time and seeing him in battle without all of the Avengers with him. The storyline was interesting and the fight scenes have not disappointed me.
4. Marvel’s The Avengers (2012):
The very first film of the Avengers all joining forces for a big showdown. In this one, Captain America, Iron Man (Robert Downy Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) came together to stop a huge threat coming there way.
First of all, the Avengers together caught my attention. Second, it was the plot itself. Each Avenger was different and each one had to deal with their own personal struggles. So, they all had to work together in order to save their world. It was one of the main aspects of the movie that had me captivated (that and the intense battle scenes).
3. Captain America: Civil War (2016):
After the events of Avengers: age of Ultron, the heroes literally split up. The Sokovia Accords, allowed the UN to oversee and control the team. When a threat came, the Avengers were forced into battling each other, which made it entertaining.
Before the movie started this question had been going on, “Who’s side are you on?” I won’t say which, but it made the film more engaging. The “civil war” between the Avengers was fun to watch. Plus, seeing the major differences between Captain America and Iron Man made it more engaging.
2. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017):
After battling one side of the Avengers in the previous film on my list, we see Spider-Man’s moment on the big screen. We see your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man (Tom Holland) on the streets stopping various crimes and trying to become an official member of the Avengers. While doing so and facing a new threat to New York, he tries to navigate his way through his high school life.
What made this movie into my top five was the humor. I had more laughs in this film than in most of the other Marvel movies. What was particularly amusing was the conversations Peter had with his new suit, Karen. The weapon options she gave and the advice she offered gave me the giggles throughout the rest of the movie.
1. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014):
This movie brought out a team of aliens who had lost people, went down a dark path and had to fight in order to survive. This unlikely group came together to earn money and stop someone from gaining power. But, they didn’t expect to become close.
Guardians of the Galaxy had everything: action, drama, space battles and laughs (lots and lots of laughs). One guardian that had my attention was Groot (Vin Diesel). Groot’s dialogue was limited to just saying, “I am Groot.” Not only that but his dancing in the pot at the end was entertaining to view over and over. All of which is why this Marvel movie is my number one on the list.
